2019 Avani "The Earth" Syrah - Mornington Peninsula

Shashi and Devendra Singh biodynamically farm a small 4 hectare vineyard in Red Hill South that's planted entirely to Syrah (Shiraz). This wine is the epitome of exceptional Mornington Pensinsula Shiraz. Hard harvested, wild fermented and aged in 50% new French oak for 18months, then bottled without fining or filtration, this is all about their excellent site and farming. It's ridiculously elegant with crunchy red fruit and spice, silky and supple with fine tannins and a long, cosy finish.

We have yet to have a better Shiraz/Syrah from the Peninsula, dynamite.
