2022 Koerner Watervale Riesling - Clare Valley, SA

Jono and Damon Koerner aim to both champion the Clare Valley region and also bring a sense of modernism to their wines. The fruit for this wines comes from their family vineyard Gullyview and the neighbouring Parish vineyard. It's allowed to rest on skins for 18 hours before being moved to a mix of ceramic egg, stainless steel and old oak to age on lees. This is aromatic and textured, the acidity is supple and dialed back instead of searing, there's a hint of spice and brilliant structure throughout. A really excellent modern take on Clare Valley that's interesting while also being approachable in it's youth.
