2017 Municipal Tempranillo - Strathbogie Ranges, VIC

Matt Froude loves Tempranillo and also loves the sometimes under appreciated Strathbogie Ranges. Matt is well informed on the great wines of Spain and his take on Tempranillo is fairly serious and structured, but it is also approachable. Gentle handling and wild ferment followed by 13 months in oak (30% new), has produced a brilliantly structured wine. Savoury and complex with fine tannins and bright acidity, there’s still freshness here alongside the long finish making for a super refined Australian take on Tempranillo.
